The Happy Valley boys’ basketball team was unable to rally late on Tuesday night.
The Warriors dropped a 69-47 decision to West Greene on Warrior Hill.
In the girls’ game, HV pulled away to take a 59-43 decision.
For the HV boys, they had to battle back from an early deficit as West Greene took a 17-10 lead after a quarter of play. The Warriors kept battling in the second quarter with two big 3-pointers from Dakota Grindstaff and four points apiece from Steven Perry and Austin Nickles to tie the game up at 28-28 at the half.

Happy Valley was unable to shake off a slow start to the third quarter as the Buffaloes outscored HV 13-5 in the quarter. HV kept fighting but was unable to rally in the final eight minutes.

Grindstaff finished with 11 points, while Ron Parker had eight points. James Murray and Perry had seven points. Nickles added six points.
In the girls’ game, it was a back-and-forth battle in the opening minutes.
HV took a 13-12 lead into the second quarter and used big quarters from Mailey Guy and Kadie Bailey to take a 29-22 lead into the half.
The Lady Warriors kept West Greene at bay in the third and rolled to the win in the final quarter.
Cayden Anderson and Guy led HV with 19 points apiece, while Bailey had 12 points.
