Wednesday Round-Up: Lady Cyclones Sweep John Battle; Cyclones Drop Defensive Duel

The Lady Cyclones took a doubleheader sweep on Wednesday.

In the first game, EHS got on the board first in the bottom of the third when Ember Jensen hit a double to plate two runs.

After Battle trimmed the lead to one run in the top of the fourth, Kenidy Harris hit a single to score Maely Ingram.

From there, Elizabethton was able to hold off the Lady Trojans for the win.

Jensen finished with two RBI and a hit, while Harris had a hit and an RBI.

Sadie Williams, Hannah Morgan, Lana Wara, and Ingram each added a hit.

In the pitching circle, Lilly McDuffie gave up just one earned run on four hits with four strikeouts.

In the second game, EHS took control early and pulled away in the fourth.

The Lady Cyclones jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first and added four more in the bottom of the third.

From there, EHS was able to roll to the win.

Williams and Lela Byrd had three RBI apiece, while Mollie Johnson added a hit and an RBI.

Ingram had two hits for EHS. Cheyenne Poiroux and Harris each added a hit

Byrd picked up the win in the circle as she recorded 14 strikeouts and allowed just two earned runs on three hits.

Volunteer 3, Elizabethton 0
The Cyclones came up short in a Wednesday night clash.

Elizabethton opened the game by getting two runners on base in the top of the first but was unable to push one across the plate.

Neither team was able to break onto the board until the bottom of the fifth when Volunteer pushed a run across, and then the Falcons added two more in the sixth.

Elizabethton continued to battle but was unable to rally in the closing frame.

Kaleb Hambrick had two hits for the Orange and Black, while Hayden Nave, Brilee Hurley, and Jack Farris each added a hit.
