Wednesday Round-up: Lady Cyclones Win OT Thriller; Hampton Boys Pull Away

Elizabethton 60, Pikeville (Ky.) 56 OT (girls)
The Lady Cyclones picked up an overtime victory in their first game of the Andrew Johnson Bank Classic in Greeneville.

Elizabethton held a slim 15-13 lead after eight minutes of play and maintained a 27-23 halftime advantage.

The teams went back and forth in the second half and ended regulation knotted at 53-53.

Lina Lyon scored four points in overtime, while Reiley Whitson drained a key 3-pointer to lift EHS to the win.

Lyon had 21 points to lead the way, while Olivia Holly and Renna Lane finished with 11 points each.

Marlee Mathena added 10 points.

Hampton 78, Lenoir City 59 (boys)
The Bulldogs pulled away with a big second half in the Renasant Bank tournament at Maryville.

After trailing 35-34 at the half, Hampton outscored Lenior City 23-12 in the third quarter and 21-12 in the fourth to roll to the win.

Cadon Buckles had 30 points to pace Hampton, while Michael Anspaugh had 21 points. Hayden Campbell had 14 points.

Fairview (AL) 73, Elizabethton 57 (boys)
The Cyclones were unable to keep pace with the Aggies on the second day of the King of The Smokies in Pigeon Forge.

Elizabethton will wrap up the tournament today against Jefferson County.
