Bulldogs Cruise Past West Greene

Hampton hit cruise control on Friday night.

The Bulldogs scored 46 first-half points to roll to a 52-6 win over West Greene in Region 1-2A action at JC Campbell Stadium.

Hampton improves to 4-0 in region play and 6-2 overall.

It was all Bulldogs from the opening kick.

Hampton got on the board the first two minutes into the game as Dom Burleson scored on a short run, and Geno Carrico pushed the advantage with a touchdown run with five minutes left in the quarter. The Bulldogs took a 22-0 lead into the second quarter after Dom Burleson scored from five yards out for his second touchdown of the night.

The second quarter was much the same.

Two minutes into the second quarter, Burleson found the endzone for his third score of the night. JJ McElyea pushed the lead to 34-0 with 2:28 to play with an eight-yard score.

In the final minute, Hampton saw Shayden Oliver score his first career touchdown on a short run. The half ended as Dylan Trivett hit McElyea for a 50-yard touchdown as the Bulldogs pushed the lead to 46-0 at the half.

After West Greene got on the board late in the third, Peyton Townsend scored on a 36-yard run to account for the final scoring for Hampton.

Burleson finished the night with 178 yards. Townsend had 61 yards, while Carrico ended the game with 54 rushing yards.

The Hampton defense recovered six WG fumbles in the game.
