Several Carter County athletes received hardware at the conclusion of the District tournaments.
District 1-A and District 1-AA both had strong representation from Carter County on the All-District Tournament teams.
In District 1-AA, Elizabethton swept the All-Tournament MVP awards as Sarah Robinson and Conley Bowers were honored for their performances during the tournament at Sullivan East. Robinson was joined on the girls’ side by teammates Kayla Marosites, Kelci Marosites and Megan Pietrowski. Kalee Johnson of Happy Valley was also selected to the All-Tournament team.
Austin Cornett, Tyler Nichols and Bo Pless joined Bowers on the boys’ side All-Tournament team. Elizabethton swept the tournament titles with decisive victories on both the boys and girls side. Both Elizabethton teams as well as the Lady Warriors open Region play this week.
In District 1-A, Coby Jones captured the tournament MVP honors, and he was joined by Stanley Valentine, Nathan Norris and Adam McClain on the All-Tournament team. The District 1-A girls saw Cloudland’s Peyton Johnson and Kendall Mull selected to the All-Tournament team, while Hampton was represented by Kim Swearingen, Alexus Grubbs and Alexis Bowers on the team.
The Bulldogs rolled to the district tournament title, while the Lady Bulldogs were edged in a thriller by top-seed South Greene. Cloudland girls went to overtime to defeat North Greene in the consolation game. All three also open region play this week.
