Elizabethton was unable to answer a big inning from Tennessee High on Friday afternoon.

The Cyclones dropped a 13-6 decision to the Vikings in the Winner’s Bracket final at Cardinal Park in the District 1-3A baseball tournament.

The Cyclones will face off against the winner of Friday night’s Unicoi County and Sullivan East on Saturday at 2p in an elimination contest.

Elizabethton jumped out early.

After Kaleb Hambrick and Peyton Johnson hit singles in the top of the first, Hayden Nave hit a sac fly out to right field to bring Hambrock across the plate as EHS took a 1-0 lead after the first inning.

The Cyclones got back on the board as Brilee Hurley scored off a Rowland single, while Hambrick slid across home plate after Johnson hit a single.

That gave EHS a 3-0 lead after the second inning.

The Vikings, however, got two runs back in the bottom of the third and two more in the fourth to take the lead.

Elizabethton continued to battle as Johnson scored to even things up at 4-4.

Tennessee High, however, took full control with nine runs in the bottom of the frame as they scored nine runs in the frame.

The Cyclones continued to battle as Rowland and Hambrock were able to cross home plate. Elizabethton, however, was unable to keep the rally going.

Johnson had three hits to pace EHS at the plate, while Nave had two RBi. Steven Meadows and Rowland had two hits apiece.
