Elizabethton kept the season alive with a statement.

The Cyclones jumped out early and never looked back to take a 78-60 win over Tennessee High in the District 1-3A Boys Quarterfinals on Friday night.

With the win, Elizabethton advanced to Saturday’s semifinals against Volunteer at 4:30p, and also earned a spot in the Region 1-3A tournament.

Elizabethton hit the gas pedal early.

Nicholas Wilson scored seven points in the opening quarter, while Bryce VanHuss added six more as EHS rolled to a 22-5 lead after a quarter of play.

The Cyclones maintained the advantage throughout the second quarter and held a 38-20 lead at the break.

Any thought of a Tennessee High comeback was quickly erased in the third quarter as six Cyclones scored in the quarter and EHS outscored the Vikings 23-14 in the frame.

From there, Elizabethton cruised to the win.

VanHuss had 19 points to lead the way for Elizabethton, while Wilson had 17 points – including a thunderous dunk in the third quarter.

Seth Carter had 15 points. Jake Roberts ended the night with 11 points.

Colin Brown led Tennessee HIgh with 20 points.
