Elizabethton Cruises Past Sullivan East

The Cyclones rolled on Friday night.

Elizabethton cruised to a 49-0 victory over Sullivan East in Bluff City.

With the win, EHS improves to 5-1 on the year with a 2-1 mark in Region 1-4A play.

It was all Elizabethton from the opening kick.

Cade Russell scored on a four short run to cap a quick four-play drive as EHS took an early lead.

Nate Stephens scored on Elizabethton’s next drive from three yards out as EHS quickly held a 14-0 advantage.

Russell scored his second touchdown of the night when he scored from two yards. Elizabethton took a 28-0 lead into the second quarter after Jake Roberts broke free for a 45-yard touchdown run in the final seconds of the quarter.

The Roberts’ score was set up after JC Andes recovered an East fumble.

The second quarter continued to be all Elizabethton as Stephens scored a 44-yard touchdown. The Cyclones took a 42-0 lead into the locker room after Kaleb Holzer scored on a 30-yard run.

With six possessions in the first half, Elizabethton scored on all six drives.

The final touchdown of the night came when Gib Maupin found Dalton Mitchell for a 25-yard touchdown.

As a team, Elizabethton had 339 yards of total offense in the first half, and was led by Holzer’s 71 yards on five carries.

Russell finished the night with seven carries for 53 yards, while Stephens added three carries for 65 yards.

The Cyclones are slated to host Rhea County next Friday night.
