It was a record setting night for Ethan Thomas as he led the Cyclones to a 57-0 victory over cross town rival Happy Valley on Friday night at Brown Childress Stadium.

Thomas etched his name in the record books as he became the leading rusher in Northeast Tennessee history as he neared 5,600 yards after recording 189 yards on Friday night.

Caleb Armstrong opened the scoring early as he hit Markus Olds for a 27-yard touchdown pass, and then Armstrong added a one-yard touchdown run to send the Cyclones into the second stanza with a 14-0 lead.

The second quarter was all Elizabethton as Thomas scored from 31, 22 and 11 yards out, and Armstrong broke free for a 33 yard touchdown to give the Cyclones a 49-0 advantage at the half.

After a scoreless third quarter with a running clock, Elizabethton’s Caleb Jones ran 71 yards to paydirt to wrap up the scoring in the fourth quarter.

In addition to Thomas’ big night, Armstrong had a solid game as he went 8-for-11 with 148 yards and added 87 yards on five carries. Jones also broke the century mark as he gained 110 yards.

Elizabethton recorded 386 rushing yards in the game.
