Elizabethton standout Evan Carter received the opportunity many dream of on Thursday evening.
Carter was selected in the second round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Texas Rangers with the 50th selection. Carter had previously signed with Duke.
The Rangers are getting an incredible talent in Carter as the Elizabethton graduate excelled on the diamond.
The left-hander batted .324 with 27 RBI and four RBI during his junior season, while throwing for a 10-2 record on the mound. He recorded an impressive 1.34 ERA on the mound.
During the 2019 season, Carter was the Three Rivers Conference Pitcher of the Year, and a first-team All-State honoree.
Carter will join another Elizabethton baseball standout in the Rangers organization as Danny Clark is the pitching coordinator.
