Friday Round-up: Bulldogs, Lady Rangers win in walkoffs

Hampton 10, Hancock County 9 (baseball)
The Bulldogs won a thrilling game in their first game under the lights at Scotty Bunton Field.

Josh Owens drove in the winning run for a walk-off win in the bottom of the seventh to send Hampton to the win. With the victory, Hampton improves to 3-0 on the year.

Weston Street was 3-for-5 with two RBI. Owen finished 2-for-3.

Dalton Rouse picked up the relief win as he recorded seven strikeouts in three innings of work.


Unaka 3, Johnson County 2 (softball)
The Lady Rangers moved to 4-0 on the year as Kailey Wilson was hit by a pitch and pushed the winning run across the play.

Trinity Bowers went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the UHS attack, while Alana Parsons, Noelle Collins, Hailey Gilman and Wilson each had a hit. Gilman finished with two RBI – which happened on a third-inning homerun.

Wilson picked up the win as she allowed just one hit in two innings of work. Shoun pitched a gem of a game as she went three innings while striking out five Lady Longhorn batters with just two unearned runs on three hits.

David Crockett 6, Elizabethton 3 (baseball)
The Cyclones were unable to answer a big fifth inning from David Crockett.

After EHS plated two runs in the bottom of the first, the Pioneers got the bats going in the top of the fifth as they plated six runs in the frame. Elizabethton tried to mount a rally, but was unable to close the gap.

Karson Dilliard went 1-for-2 with two runs scored to lead EHS at the play. Gage Treadway and Ashton Wilson recorded an RBI apiece, while Evan Carter scored a run.

In three innings of work, Dillard struck out three batters while allowing just three innings of work.
