Hampton made their first appearance in the Associated Press’ Top 10 Tennessee Prep Football poll, while Elizabethton remained inside the top 10 but dropped three spots in this week’s edition.

The Bulldogs debuted at No. 9 inside in the Class 2A poll. Hampton received 36 points, including one first-place vote, after last week’s dismantling of Johnson County. The Bulldogs were one point ahead of new region foe Sullivan North in the poll.

Marion County, Boyd Buchanan and Tyner Academy made up the top three in the Class 2A poll.

Elizabethton fell three spots to No. 8 in the Class 4A poll after Friday night’s heartbreaking loss to Science Hill at Kermit Tipton Stadium. The Cyclones tallied 69 points, 39 ahead of region foe and No. 9 Pigeon Forge.

CPA, Alcoa and CAK comprised the top three in the Class 4A poll.

Both teams will be at home this upcoming Friday with Elizabethton hosting Johnson County in the first game at the new Citizen’s Bank Stadium, while Hampton will host Cosby.
