There were solid performances all across the board last Friday night. However, it took a special one to capture our Applebee’s of Elizabethton Player of the Week.
This week’s honor goes to Coby Jones of Hampton as he rallied the Bulldogs to a 28-21 victory over Happy Valley at JC Campbell Stadium. Jones hit Dylan Ford for a 55-yard pass to set then Bulldogs up in scoring position, and ran into the endzone from five yards out to send Hampton to the victory.
The junior tallied 116 yards on 17 carries in the game, while completing six passes for 112 yards.
Jones and company will have a bye week this week. The Bulldogs are ranked fifth in the Class 2A AP Prep Poll.
Other honorees of the Applebee’s of Elizabethton Player of the Week this season include Hampton’s Jerry Lunsford, Cloudland’s Colby Birchfield and Elizabethton’s Ethan Thomas.
