Elizabethton checked off one of their goals in a big way.

The Lady Cyclones pulled away in the second quarter and never looked back to roll to a 79-44 District 1-3A Championship victory over Sullivan East at Volunteer High School.

Elizabethton will open Region 1-3A tournament play on Friday as they will host Cherokee in quarterfinal action.

The Lady Cyclones held a 14-9 lead after a quarter of play with five points from Lina Lyon and four from Marlee Mathena.

EHS took full control in the second stanza.

Renna Lane hit four 3-pointers in the quarter, while Olivia Holly added a pair of treys as EHS outscored the Lady Patriots 23-11 in the stanza. Maddie Fowler also added a 3-pointer as Elizabethton had seven 3-pointers in the second quarter.

That allowed Elizabethton to take a 37-20 lead into the half.

A balanced attack in the third quarter erased any thoughts of a Sullivan East comeback as they added 11 points to their lead.

From there, the celebration was on.

Holly had 21 points to lead Elizabethton, while Lane tallied 16 points. Lyon and Mathena had 14 and 13 points apiece.

Lyon was named the tournament MVP, while Mathena, Holly and Lane were named to the All-Tournament team.
