Lady Cyclones roll past Science Hill

The Elizabethton girls basketball team took care of business Saturday night.

The Lady Cyclones captured a 54-41 victory over Science Hill inside Treadway Gymnasium. With the win, Elizabethton improves to 1-1 on the year.


It was all EHS early as the Lady Cyclones raced out to a 12-0 lead in the opening minutes, and maintained a 15-6 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

The Lady Cyclones used key 3-pointers from Reiley Whitson and Torrie Roberts to maintain the lead in the second quarter. That allowed Elizabethton to hold a 25-13 advantage at the half.

Elizabethton left no doubt in the third quarter.

Lina Lyon hit a trio of big shots, while Morgan Headrick scored five points in the frame to power EHS to a 42-21 lead after three complete quarters. From there, it was all Elizabethton.

Lyon led the Lady Cyclones with 13 points, while Headrick had 11 points. Renna Lane gadded eight points. Robert and Whitson scored six points apiece.

Jasmin Myers and Naie Marion had 13 points apiece to lead Science Hill.
