A slow start was too much to overcome for the Lady ‘Landers.

Cloudland was limited to just three points in the opening quarter in a 47-36 loss to Northview Academy on Friday night in the Region 1-A tournament.

The Lady ‘Landers was limited to one field goal in the first quarter – a Shian Strickland jumper and Payton Johnson free throw – while the Lady Cougars took a 10-3 lead after a quarter of play. Johnson, however, heated up for Cloudland in the second quarter as she scored six points. Trinity Vines added a pair of buckets as CHS trimmed the lead to 21-15 at the half.

The Lady ‘Landers saw Patricia Singleton score six points in the third quarter, but CHS would only score seven total points in the frame. That allowed Northview to take a 32-22 lead into the final quarter.

Cloudland made a late run in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough.

Johnson led the way with 12 points, while Singleton and Vines had 10 points apiece.

Taylor Cotner-Brabson led Northview with a game-high 22 points.
