It was a busy day for Carter County teams in District tournament action. However, it was a tough day as three county teams saw their season come to a close. Action at all tournament sites continue on Tuesday.

District 1-AA Baseball
Sullivan East 4, Elizabethton 2
Elizabethton rallied, but was unable to rally in the final inning as they fell 4-2 in a season ending loss.
Elizabethton baseball and Sullivan East held each other scoreless until the Patriots capitalized on a throwing error in the top of the fourth inning. The Cyclones battled back as Caleb Chambers and Drew Wetzel crossed home plate. Justin Carr recorded an RBI sacrifice in the inning.
However, Sullivan East tied the game in the sixth with a RBI single by Curt Lunceford. The Patriots added two more runs in the sixth to survive and advance.
The Patriots will play Sullivan South on Tuesday night. South fell 6-2 to Unicoi on Monday night.

District 1-AA softball
Unicoi County 5, Happy Valley 1
The Lady Warriors were unable to keep the upsets coming on Monday against top-seeded Unicoi County. After a scoreless first inning, Unicoi County put two runs on the board in the second, and Tiffany Laughren hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 5-0 after three innings.
Happy Valley struck with an RBI triple by Emily Whitaker in the fifth, but they were unable to plate any more runs. The Lady Warriors will await the winner of Sullivan East and Elizabethton on Tuesday.
Sullivan East advanced with an 8-1 win over Johnson County.

District 1-A Baseball
North Greene 11, Unaka 1
The Huskies scored five runs in the first two innings, and never looked back as they secured a berth in Wednesday’s title game.
Unaka will play South Greene in an elimination game on Tuesday evening at Indian Trail.

South Greene 3, University High 1
South Greene defeated University High 3-1 in the first game of the day to cap off a wild day for the Rebels. Earlier in the day, the Rebels were reinstated in the tournament after Hampton was forced to forfeit due to a pitch count issue (click here to read more).

District 1-A Softball
North Greene 16, Cloudland 6
Cloudland jumped out early, but they were unable to hold on as they fell 16-6 to North Greene. The Lady ‘Landers took a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning as they capalized on a trio of Lady Huskies errors, but North Greene got a run back in the home side of the inning.
The Lady Huskies battled back with six runs in the second while Cloudland added another run. However, North Greene scored four more runs in the third and fourth to pull away and take the victory.The loss ends Cloudland’s season.

South Greene14, Hampton 0
The Lady Bulldogs were unable to solve South Greene pitcher Rachel Brooks as they saw their season end with a 14-0 loss to the Lady Rebels.
After a scoreless first inning, South Greene scored the game’s first run in the second. However, the Lady Rebels took control in the third inning as they scored 12 runs off of nine hits and four errors. Hampton tried to answer, but was limited to just two hits in the game.
Unaka and University High will square off in the winner’s bracket finale at 5 p.m., on Tuesday, while North and South Greene will face off in an elimination game at 7 p.m.
