Monday Round-up: Cyclones, ‘Landers take thrilling wins

Cloudland 5, Cosby 1 (Baseball)
The ‘Landers continued their hot streak on Monday.

Cloudland took a decisive victory over Cosby after outhitting the Eagles 12-1. Brayden Christman had himself a day as he went 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs, while Hunter Blair had two hits.

Collin Morgan, Josh Stevens, Dillon Johnson, Jordan Issacs, Damian Black, Samuel Birchfield and Mickey Webb each had a hit.

On the mound, Dillon Johnson struck out 15 Cosby batters while throwing a no-hitter over six innings of work.

Elizabethton 5, Science Hill 4 (baseball)
Austin Burchfield and Lawson Wagner touched home plate in the bottom of the sixth to carry EHS to a 5-4 victory over Science Hill.

The Hilltoppers used single runs in the second and third to take a 2-0 lead, but the Cyclones answered in a big way with three runs in the bottom of the third. After SH retook the lead in the top of the sixth, Elizabethton used timely hits and took advantage of a Science Hill miscue to slide past for the win.

Bryson Rollins, Evan Carter, Evan Perkins and Nico Ashley each had a hit for Elizabethton.

On the mound, Evan Carter allowed two earned runs on eight hits with five strikeouts in just under six innings of work, while Lawson Wagner picked up the save as he allowed two hits and recorded two strikeouts.

Sullivan North 7, Happy Valley 0 (baseball)
The Warriors were unable to overcome an early deficit on Senior Night.

The Raiders jumped out to a 3-0 first-inning lead and methodically pulled away for the win.

Jacob Absher led the way as he went 2-for-3 at the plate. Eli Reece and Travis Whitson added a hit apiece.

Eli Reece got the starting nod on the mound and recorded nine strikeouts over four innings of work while allowing just three earned runs on three hits.

Cloudland 5, Happy Valley 1 (softball)
The Lady ‘Landers kept HV at bay for the win over the Lady Warriors.

Kenzie Birchfield was dominate in the circle as she held HV to one earned run on five hits. Leah Birchfield and Taylor Hicks had two hits each to lead Cloudland, while K. Birchfield, Kalen Fields and Heaven Caraway had doubles.

For Happy Valley, Olivia Absher had a run scored.

Unaka 25, Hampton 3 (softball)
The Lady Rangers jumped out early and never looked back in a district clash at Hampton.

Unaka, who led 22-0 at the end of the first inning, was led by Madison Pierce’s 5-for-5 performance at the plate, while Sadie Shoun, Erika Potter, Lilie Kiser and Kendall Bare had three hits each. Kiki Forney and Noelle Collins had two hits apiece.

Stephanie Orr, Bailey Andrews and Maddie Setlock had two hits apiece for Hampton.
