Monday Round-Up: Cyclones Rally Past East

Elizabethton 8, Sullivan East 6
The Cyclones rallied in a big way on Monday night.

Bryson Rowland hit a single that scored JD Hooks and Brilee Hurley to push Elizabethton into the lead and cap a four-run seventh inning to propel EHS to the win.

East opened the game with five runs in the bottom of the first, but Elizabethton trimmed the lead to 6-4 with three runs in the top of the fifth.

In the seventh, the Cyclones quickly loaded the bases and saw two batters score on walks to tie the game and set up Rowland’s single that proved to be the game-winner.

Steven Meadows and Hayden Nave had two hits a piece for the Orange and Black, while Meadows and Rowland each had two RBI.

On the mound, Jonah Hubbard picked up the win as he allowed just one hit in two innings of work. Peyton Johnson had a strong showing as he allowed just three earned runs on six hits in four innings of work.

South Greene 11, Happy Valley 2
The Warriors were unable to keep pace with a quick South Greene start.

The Rebels scored four runs over the first two innings and pushed the advantage to 6-1 after three. HV kept battling but was unable to mount a rally in the closing stages.

Pedro Colunga was 3-for-4 with a RBI, while Taylor Johnson had a hit for the Warriors.

Tucker Shoun struck out six South Greene batters while allowing just two earned runs.

FCA Flames 5, Chuckey-Doak 4
Carson Shah went 3-for-4 at the plate to power the FCA Flames to a win.

Rylan Jessee had four stolen bases and two hits for FVA.

On the mound, Evan Denton allowed just three hits and four runs with seven strikeouts.

Softball
Unicoi County 10, Elizabethton 5
The Lady Cyclones were unable to rally late on Monday afternoon.

Unicoi took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second and pushed it to 4-0 after three and a half innings. Elizabethton trimmed the gap with a three-spot in the home side of the fourth, but the Lady Blue Devils answered with four runs of their own in the top of the fifth.

The Lady Cyclones continued to battle but were unable to trim into the lead.

Kenidy Harris and Sadie Williams had homeruns for Elizabethton. Harris finished the game 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Maely Ingram added two hits.

In addition to Williams, Ember Jensen, and Cheyenne Poiroux added a hit.

In the circle, Lela Byrd struck out seven batters while allowing just three earned runs on four hits in four innings of work.
