Monday Round-Up: Cyclones Take Walk-off Win; Lady Rangers, Lady Cyclones Roll

Elizabethton 6, Morristown East 5

The Cyclones walked it off Monday night.

After Steven Meadows opened the bottom of the eighth inning and Brilee Hurley walked, Jack Farris reached base on an error to load the bases. That set the stage for Brayden Buckles to draw a walk to bring a runner across home plate and secure the win.

Meadows finished the game with three hits, while JD Hooks and Farris had two RBI apiece.

Kaleb Hambrick finished the night with two hits.

West Greene 10, Happy Valley 8
The Warriors mounted a rally in the seventh inning, but came up short of forcing extras or taking the win.

After trailing 10-4 entering the final inning, HV got things going and plated four runs in the frame, but were unable to keep things going.

Drew Blevins had two RBIs, while Nakota Graham scored two runs.

FCA Flames 9, Hampton 4
The Bulldogs were unable to answer a couple of big innings by the Flames.

After Hampton tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth, FCA scored four runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth to take control.

Jaden Kuhn and Johnny Greenwell had two hits apiece, while Noah Nichols added a hit for Hampton.

Josh Whitson went just over five innings of work and struck out seven batters while allowing just three earned runs.

For FCA, John Melandez had four hits to pace FCA, while Eb Vernot allowed just one earned run on two hits in three innings of work.

Softball
Elizabethton 10, Science Hill 0
The Lady Cyclones rolled to a nonconference win on Monday evening.

With 16 hits, Elizabethton broke open a 5-0 game in the fifth with five runs to pick up the run-rule win against the Lady Hilltoppers.

Ember Jensen had three RBI, while Kenidy Harris added two RBI. Elizabethton had seven players record two hits in the game.

In the pitching circle, Lilly McDuffie threw a shutout as she allowed just four hits in five innings of work.

Unaka 5, South Greene 1
The Lady Rangers pulled away in the third inning and never looked back.

UHS plated four runs to take control of the game. Unaka outhit South Greene 16-4.

Trinity Bowers went 4-for-4 to lead Unaka, while Lyndie Ramsey had two RBI. Kylie Blevins and Haley Gilman had an RBI a piece.

In the pitching circle, Bowers struck out seven batters while allowing just four hits in four innings of work.

North Greene 12, Cloudland 1
The Lady ‘Landers were unable to recover from a big North Greene inning.

North Greene scored eight runs in the bottom of the third, and kept Cloudland at bay to take the district win in Baileyton.

Ryan Turbyfill had a hit and RBI for Cloudland, while Kendall Birchfield, Bethany Sluder, and Savannah McCoury each had a hit for Cloudland.

Cambell Gaby had two homeruns with four RBI and picked up the win in the pitching circle for North Greene.
