Photo Gallery: Cyclones, Lady Cyclones Unable To Outlast Crockett

Elizabethton came up short in a pair of varsity games on Tuesday night.
The Cyclones were unable to answer a late David Crockett charge in the final quarter as the Pioneers took a 64-49 win, while the Lady Cyclones came up short in a 59-42 decision.
In the boys’ game, points were hard to come by in the early going.
The teams traded points in the first quarter with Crockett holding a 12-8 lead after a quarter of play. The second quarter was much the same as the Pioneers held a 16-15 advantage at the break.
Jackson Hobbs helped the Cyclones start the second half with nine points to open the quarter. Crockett, however, answered to take a slim 35-34 lead after three complete quarters.
In the final quarter, the Pioneers were able to slowly pull away to take the victory.
Hobbs had 12 points to lead the Cyclones, while Will Churchhill scored 10 points. Mac Paulson had nine points.
In the girls’ game, Elizabethton battled but was unable to keep up with the Lady Pioneers as Crockett slowly pulled away.
After Crockett held an 11-8 lead after a quarter of play, four Lady Cyclones reached the scorebook, but DC was able to take a 31-23 lead into the half.
Elizabethton continued to fight and stayed within striking distance during the third quarter, but Crockett was able to get some separation in the fourth to secure the win.
Michelle Shields led Elizabethton with 15 points, while Marlee Mathena had 13 points. Jamira Smalls and Peyton McGee had five and four points, respectively.
