Elizabethton came out on top on opening day.
The Cyclones scored six runs in the second inning to power their way to a 14-0 win over Happy Valley in the season opener for both squads.
The two teams are scheduled to meet on Tuesday at Elizabethton for the second game of the series.
Elizabethton was able to take an early lead with two runs in the top of the first inning. HV was able to get a base runner in the home side of the frame but was unable to get the runner home.
From there, Elizabethton was able to increase the lead and limit the Warriors’ opportunities.
Ashton Wilson was 3-for-3, while Noah Rosato was 3-for-4 to lead the way for Elizabethton. Zak Workman added two hits for the Cyclones – who finished with 14 hits as a team.
Andrew Little had the lone hit for HV.
On the mound, Wilson picked up the win as he went three innings and allowed just one hit with six strikeouts.
