A pair of big innings lifted Elizabethton softball to a big league win on Thursday afternoon.

The Lady Cyclones took a 13-3 victory over Sullivan East at home.

Elizabethton jumped out early as Ember Jensen hit a single to get on base, and scored when Mollie Johnson hit a double to center field.

That allowed EHS to take a 1-0 lead after an inning of play.

After the second inning went scoreless, East got on the board as Keelye Fields hit a home run over the center field fence to push the Lady Patriots to a 3-1 lead.

The Lady Cyclones, however, answered in a big way as Lela Byrd hit a shot over the center field fence to plate three runs for EHS as Elizabethton regained a 4-3 advantage.

In the fourth, the Lady Cyclones plated four more runs to take control of the contest and added single runs in the fifth and sixth.

Kenidy Harris went 3-for-4, while Emma O’Quinn, Byrd, Johnson, and Jensen had two hits apiece.

Maely Ingram had two RBI.

Byrd picked up the win in the pitching circle as she allowed just three earned runs on two hits with 10 strikeouts.

Evie Leonard and Fields had one hit apiece for the Lady Patriots.
