Photo Gallery: Unaka Advances Past UH As Ramsey Moves Up In Record Books

Unaka took care of business, while Lyndie Ramsey found her way up the record books.

The No. 4 Lady Rangers dispatched No. 5 University High 55-33 in the District 1-A play-in game at West Ridge High School on Monday night.

Unaka advanced to take on No. 1 Hampton in Tuesday’s semifinals. Tipoff is set for 6:30p. The win also secured Unaka a spot in the Region 1-A tournament.

During the game, Ramsey became the leading scorer in Northeast Tennessee girls’ basketball 5-on-5 basketball.

It was all Unaka early.

Ramsey scored the first six points of the night, and shots from Keyonna Hauge and Kaitlyn Dugger gave Unaka a 10-0 lead. Ramsey and Emma Taylor added shots as Unaka held a 19-2 lead with both UH points coming off free throws.

In the second quarter, Unaka opened the quarter on a 7-0 run before UH hit their first field goal of the night with 4:28 to play in the half.

Unaka led 31-8 at the half.

The third quarter saw the Lady Rangers open the quarter on a 9-1 run. UH continued to battle with a pair of runs, but the Lady Rangers were able to keep the Lady Bucs at bay.

Ramsey finished with 22 points. Jill Faust and Dugger scored eight points apiece.

Hague added six points, while Taylor finished with five points.
