Three County Teams Remain Ranked In AP Poll

Three Carter County Teams remained ranked inside the top five in this week’s Tennessee AP Prep Basketball poll.

The Elizabethton and Hampton girls continued to be ranked on the girls’ side, while the Hampton boys were once again ranked on the boys’ side.

In the Class 3A girls’ poll, Elizabethton jumped a spot to No. 4 in this week’s poll. The Lady Cyclones were seven points behind No. 3 Creek Wood with a total of 59.

Jackson South Side claimed the top spot in this week’s poll with Upperman claiming the No. 2 spot.

In Class 2A, Hampton held steady at the No. 2 spot in the Class 1A poll. The Lady Bulldogs tallied 84 points – just 16 behind unanimous No. 1 Wayne County.

Hampton was 18 points ahead of No. 3 McKenzie, while Clarkrange and Clay County tied for the No. 4 spot.

On the boys’ side, Hampton moved to No. 5 in the Class 1A poll. The Bulldogs were jumped by No. 4 East Robertson in this week’s edition of the poll.

Hampton tallied 58 points – just eight points behind the No. 4 spot. Middleton was ranked No. 1 in the poll with Clay County and Richland claiming the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively.
