Elizabethton 59, Unicoi County 40 (girls)
The Lady Cyclones clinched the Region 1-3A title on Tuesday night with a strong win against Unicoi.

It was Elizabethton’s 12th straight win against league foes counting last year’s postseason play.

After the game was tied at 11-11 after a quarter of play, Renna Lane sparked the EHS offense with six second-quarter points as Elizabethton doubled up Unicoi 18-9 in the frame to take a 29-20 lead into the half.

The third quarter continued to see Elizabethton have the momentum as the Lady Cyclones as Lina Lyon had 12 points in the third to help erase any thought of a Unicoi comeback.

Lane finished with 19 points to pace EHS, while Lyon added 18 points. Olivia Holly had 10 points.

Unaka 51, University High 34 (girls)
The Lady Rangers rolled to a league win on Tuesday night.

Unaka jumped out to a double-digit lead in the opening minutes and never looked back to cruise to the win.

Lyndie Ramsey had 27 points to pace Unaka, while Alisha Harrell and Jill Faust had five points apiece. Lauren Lund, Emma Taylor, and Haley Taylor each had four points.

North Greene 40, Cloudland 38 (girls)
The Lady ‘Landers saw a rally come up short in District 1-A play.

After points were hard to come by in the opening minute for both squads, NG took a slim 11-8 lead after the first quarter of play. The teams traded shots throughout the quarter but CHS was unable to get in front as NG led 17-14 at the half.

It was more of the same in the second half as neither team could get separation before NG used an 8-0 run to take a 27-18 advantage late in the third quarter. Kendall Birchfield hit a key 3-pointer to stop the run, and Cloudland methodically started chewing into the lead with key shots from Izabella Christman, Ryan Turbyfill, and Ella Benfield.

CHS cut the lead to one point in the final seconds but was unable to get back in front.

Benfield led Cloudland with 18 points.

Unicoi County 60, Elizabethton 36 (boys)
The Cyclones were unable to answer a strong second-half charge on Tuesday night.

Elizabethton jumped out to a 17-15 lead after a quarter of play, but the Blue Devils used a 12-5 second quarter to take a 27-22 halftime lead.

The Cyclones continued to battle, but the Blue Devils outscored EHS 33-14 in the second half to secure the win.

Nate Stephens and Mac Paulson had seven points apiece to lead Elizabethton. Jackson Hobbs and Dalton Mitchell added six and five points, respectively.

University High 64, Unaka 56 (boys)
It was a back-and-forth battle with UH coming out on top Tuesday night.

Landon Ramsey had 24 points to lead Unaka, while Joe-Z Blamo scored 11 points. Mason Wilson added nine points for the Rangers.

AJ Murphy had 19 points to lead the Bucs.

North Greene 57, Cloudland 42 (boys)
Cloudland used a third-quarter rally to nearly erase a double-digit deficit, but it came up short against the Huskies.

The teams traded shots in the opening quarter as North Greene held an 11-9 lead, but the Huskies used a 16-0 run to start the second quarter to extend the lead and take a 33-18 halftime advantage.

Cloudland, however, battled back with key shots from Eli Morgan and Auston Caraway as CHS quickly closed within four points.

North Greene stopped the run and held a 37-31 lead after three. From there, Cloudland continued to battle but was unable to mount another rally.

Eli Morgan had 16 points for Cloudland, while Ryan Sexton added 14 points. The duo combined for eight 3-pointers in the game.
