Unaka rolls past Concord for first win

Unaka broke into the win column in a big way on Friday night.

The Rangers erupted for a 56-33 victory over Concord Christian on Friday night on Stoney Creek. With the win, Unaka improves to 1-2 on the season, and more importantly 1-0 in region play.

It is the second straight season that the Rangers have defeated the Lions.

Unaka opened the game quickly as they jumped out to a 22-0 first quarter lead. The Lions, however, weren’t going to go down without a fight as they scored 13 unanswered points to close within nine points with just under seven minutes to play in the first half.

The Rangers battled back as they outscored Concord 20-6 over the next six minutes to take a 42-19 lead into the locker room at the half.

UHS added a score in the third quarter and the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Hunter Bentley had four total touchdowns, all of which were in the first half. Bentley scored on three rushing and a receiving touchdown.

Blake King had a solid night passing as he went 9-of-16 for 188 yards and three touchdowns.
