Warriors See Season End In District 1-2A Tournament

The Happy Valley boys’ basketball team was unable to extend the season on Tuesday night.

The Warriors dropped a hard-fought 70-41 decision to Johnson County in the District 1-2A play-in game in Mountain City.

The loss ends HV’s season a game short of the Region tournament.

Happy Valley saw Johnson County jump out to a 19-11 lead in the first quarter. HV continued to battle, but the Longhorns were able to maintain the advantage and take a 34-23 halftime lead.

Johnson County outscored the Warriors 16-9 in the third quarter to take control.

Dakota Grindstaff had 13 points, while Ron Parker scored 12 points for the Warriors. Cole Deakins added seven points.

Johnson County was paced by Connor Simcox’s 20 points, while Peyton Pavusek added 14 points. Eli Dickens finished with 11 points.

The Longhorns advanced to take on No. 1 South Greene on Friday night.
