
Elizabethton left no doubt when adding to the history book.
The Cyclones secured the program’s first trip to the state tournament with a 4-0 win over Gibbs in the Class AA Sectional inside Citizens Bank Stadium on Saturday night.
With the win, Elizabethton advanced to the Class AA State Tournament in Murfreesboro, and will open play against Crockett County on Tuesday at 6:30p CT.
The Cyclones struck midway through the first half.
Drake Teague found the back of the net in the 21′ minute. Thomas Lambert added to the EHS lead in the 26′ off a Teague pass as Elizabethton took a 2-0 lead into the half.
Lambert scored a goal in the second half, while Reece Vernon added a goal off a free kick to secure the win.
Tucker Taylor had a clean sheet in the goal for Elizabethton.
