Bulldogs Dominate To Move Into Second Round

Hampton rolled to the second round on Friday night.

The Bulldogs dispatched Oneida 32-0 in the first round of the TSSAA Class 2A Playoffs at JC Campbell Stadium.

With the win, Hampton advances to the second round to take on Monterey – who dispatched Happy Valley 40-6 in the opening round.

It was a methodical night for the Bulldogs.

Hampton opened the scoring as Dylan Trivett found Geno Carrico for an 18-yard touchdown midway through the first quarter to give the Bulldogs a 6-0 lead after a quarter of play.

Early in the second, Hampton got on the board as Brody Hicks picked up a fumble recovery for a touchdown to extend the lead.

After the play, there was a lengthy delay for an injured Onieda player.

Once play resumed, Hampton got back on the board in the closing minute of the half as Levi Lunsford scored on a short run to send Hampton into the locker room with an 18-0 lead.

The Bulldogs continued to be in control in the second half.

Trivett put Hampton back on the board in the third quarter as he scored on an 11-yard run, and Lunsford added a score in the fourth to account for the final scoring.

Lunsford finished with 165 yards on 24 carries, while Dominique Burleson had 71 yards on 12 carries.

Trivett finished 6-of-10 passing for 76 yards while adding 20 rushing yards.

As a team, Hampton outgained Oneida 367-35 and held the Indians to -20 rushing yards.
