Bulldogs Take County Win Over Unaka On Homecoming 2023

In a county clash, Hampton held the upper hand.

The Bulldogs cruised to a 55-0 victory over Unaka on Homcoming Thursday night at J.C. Campbell Stadium.

With the win, Hampton improved to 7-2 overall while Unaka moved to 2-7 on the season.

Hampton set the tone early.

After the Bulldogs stymied the Ranger offense on the opening drive, Dominique Burleson opened the scoring with a 13-yard touchdown run, and Noah Nickles added the extra point.

Dylan Trivett found the endzone late in the quarter to give Hampton a 14-0 after a quarter of play.

Hampton left no doubt in the second.

Trivett scored on a 16-yard and a 54-yard touchdown run, while Geno Carrico and the Hampton defense scored on a Carrico pick-six. The Nickles extra point gave Hampton a 41-0 halftime lead.

Unaka kept battling in the second half, but Hampton was able to keep the Rangers at bay.

Carrico had a 16-yard touchdown run, and Burleson had a 20-yard touchdown run to account for the final score.

As a team, Hampton outgained Unaka 392-98.

Trivett went for 106 yards on six carries, while he went 7-of-9 for 74 yards.

Peyton Townsend added seven carries for 74 yards, while Burleson had seven carries for 68 yards. JJ McElyea had four catches for 58 yards.

AJ Greenless led Unaka with 41 yards on seven carries, while Brynin Repoass added 24 yards.
