Cloudland left no doubt Friday night.

The ‘Landers rolled to a 52-18 victory over Cosby on Homecoming night at Orr Field. With the win, Cloudland improves to 4-1 on the season and 3-0 in Region 1-A play.

The ‘Landers scored early and often in the first half.

Seth Birchfield scored on a 16-yard run to give Cloudland a 6-0 lead with 7:35 left in the first quarter, but the Eagles were able to answer with a score of their own.

Birchfield struck again with a 33-yard touchdown to regain the lead for Cloudland.

The ‘Lander defense stifled Cosby, and Caleb Sluder pushed the lead to 22-6 to close the first quarter as he broke free for a 44-yard touchdown.

After the ‘Landers grabbed an interception to open the second quarter, Birchfield found the endzone for the third time of the night – this one on a three-yard run.

A few minutes later, Cloudland went to the air as Gage McKinney caught a Chase Shell pass for a 30-yard score and the two-point conversion was good with CHS holding a 38-6 lead with 8:33 left in the second.

Birchfield added another score before half with a 20-yard touchdown as Cloudland held a 46-6 lead at the break.

Cosby was able to score a couple of touchdowns on the CHS secondary in the second stanza.

Kyle Birchfield capped off the scoring for the night with a four-yard touchdown.

Sluder finished with six carries for 132 yards, while S. Birchfield had 12 carries for 120 yards. Shell was 4-of-6 passing for 58 yards.

On the ground, Cloudland tallied 337 yards.

The ‘Landers are slated to return to action next Friday as West Greene visits Orr Field for a nonconference tilt.
