Tyler Nichols and the Cyclone set the tone early and often, and that tone carried them to a berth in the Region 1-AA Championship game.

Elizabethton rolled to an 82-50 victory over Grainger in the Region 1-AA semifinals on Friday night at Sullivan East.  The win advanced Elizabethton to Saturday’s Region 1-AA title game as well as a berth in the sectional.

Elizabethton rolled to a 20-13 lead at the end of the first quarter, and turned that into a 46-27 advantage at the half.

The Cyclones turned up the defensive pressure in the second half by limiting Grainger to just five third quarter points, and the offense powered Elizabethton to a 31-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Nichols finished with 28 points to pace Elizabethton, while Conley Bowers recorded 18 points. Bo Pless scored 13 points in the game. Austin Cornett had nine points.

The Cyclones return to action on Saturday night as they look to claim the regional title against Greeneville at 7p.m. at Sullivan East.
