Elizabethton, Unicoi County Baseball Removed From Postseason Play

The Elizabethton baseball season has came to a close.

The TSSAA released penalties on Monday stemming from Saturday’s District 1-3A tournament contest between Elizabethton and Unicoi County.

Both Elizabethton and Unicoi County programs have been removed from postseason play as a result of the incident that forced the game to be suspended in the bottom of the seventh.

In addition to being removed from this postseason, both programs received additional penalties.

The Cyclones received two years of probation in addition to a $1,750 fine. Unicoi County received one year of probation and a $1,250 fine. Both programs will be eligible for postseason while on these probation penalties.

The penalties are appealable.

Tennessee High was declared the District 1-3A Tournament Champion.

The TSSAA is in consultation with schools in District 1 to determine who will advance to the Region 1-3A tournament, and will be finalized as soon as possible.
