Hampton Ranked No. 2, Cyclones Ranked No. 10 in AP Poll; ‘Landers Receiving Votes

The AP Tennessee Prep Football Poll saw two Carter County teams ranked and another received votes after the first week of action.

In Class 2A, Hampton came in at No. 2 in the poll – 15 points behind No. 1 Westview. The Bulldogs, who picked up a road win on Friday at Pigeon Forge, tallied 80 points and a first-place vote.

Marion County, Meigs County, and Forrest rounded out the top five.

In Class 4A, Elizabethton was ranked No. 10 after last week’s loss to Science Hill. The Cyclones tallied 32 points, and were 13 points behind No. 9 East Hamilton.

Greeneville captured the top spot as the Greene Devils tallied 10-out-of-13 first-place votes. Anderson County, Haywood County, Upperman and Tullahoma rounded out the top five.

In Class A, Cloudland received votes after falling to Happy Valley in the season-opener. Cloudland tallied three points which would have placed the ‘Landers ranked in a tie for the No. 14 spot. Clay County held down the No. 10 spot with 24 points.

McKenzie came in at No. 1 with seven first-place votes, while South Pittsburg and Fayetteville were ranked No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
