Lady Cyclones Roll Past Claiborne To Advance In Region 1-3A Tournament

Elizabethton cruised into the Region 1-3A semifinals.
The Lady Cyclones hit the gas and never looked back in a 77-32 quarterfinal win over Claiborne County inside Treadway Gymnasium on Friday night.
With the win, Elizabethton advances into the Region 1-3A semifinals where they will take on Tennessee High at 6p on Monday night. Elizabethton is the host for the remainder of the Region 1-3A tournament.
Against the Lady Bulldogs, it was all Elizabethton.
Lina Lyon scored eight points in the opening eight minutes, and Marlee Mathena and Renna Lane scored four points each with Olivia Holly knocking down a trey in the frame as EHS rolled to a 19-4 lead.
The Lady Cyclones continued to make life difficult for the Lady Bulldogs on the defensive end. That allowed EHS to outscore Claiborne 21-11 in the frame to push the lead to 40-15 at the half.
Elizabethton continued to use a balanced attack in the second half to secure the win as 11 players reached the scorebook.
Lyon had 26 points to pace the Lady Cyclone offensive attack. Lane scored 13 points, while Holly had nine points. Mathena scored eight points.
Jamira Smalls and Katie Lee finished with five and four points, respectively.
Taylor Pressnell led Claiborne with 12 points. No other Lady Bulldog scored in the double-digits.
