Happy Valley came up short on Monday.

The Lady Warriors saw their season come to a close with a heartbreaking 6-2 loss to Sullivan East in the District 1-AA Softball Tournament.

After the first two innings went scoreless, HV got on the board first in the top of the third.

Olivia Absher got on base via an East error, and Reagan Street was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second for HV. A wild pitch moved Absher and Street to third and second, respectively, and Cierra Southerland hit a fly ball to center field to bring in both runs to give Happy Valley a 2-0 lead.

The Lady Patriots, however, answered with four runs in the bottom of the third to take the lead. The Lady Warriors continued to battle but was unable to cut into the East lead.

Aleah Grindstaff, Maddie Lingerfelt, Laura Rice, and Absher each had a hit for a Happy Valley.

In the pitching circle, Abby Holt struck out four batters and allowed just four earned runs on 10 hits in a complete-game effort.
