Lady Warriors, Warriors end regular season with wins

The regular season ended quite nicely for Happy Valley.

The Warriors and Lady Warriors picked up strong wins at Sullivan North on Tuesday night in Three Rivers battle. The Happy Valley boys picked up a 76-53 victory while the girls steamrolled to a 66-32 win.

Both teams will open the District 1-AA tournament this week with the girls opening play on Thursday and the boys starting on Friday.

On Tuesday night, the Lady Warriors jumped out to a slim lead early, and then held a 29-18 advantage at the break. From there, Happy Valley pushed the gas pedal and stretched the lead to 20 points in the third quarter.

Happy Valley held a 49-25 advantage heading into the final quarter.

Kalee Johnson tallied 24 points in the last regular season game of her storied career. Makayla Frazier scored nine points.

In the varsity nightcap, Happy Valley used a strong third quarter to get some breathing room and the victory. After leading 29-25 at the half, Happy Valley nearly doubled up the Raiders to take a 14-point advantage into the final quarter.

From there, it was all Warriors.

Austin Hicks and Sam Blevins led the way with 18 points apiece. Brayden Sams and Chris Young tallied 11 points each. Josh Hammonds and Tyler Torbett had nine and seven points, respectively.
