It was a successful road trip for Cloudland.
The ‘Landers rolled to a 55-14 victory over Cosby in Region 1-A action on Friday night in Cosby.
With the win, Cloudland improved to 5-3 overall and more importantly 4-0 in Region 1-A action. The ‘Landers clinched at least a share of the Region 1-A title as well as the No. 1 seed in the playoffs, and can win the region outright with a win over Unaka in Week 11 or if Jellico loses to Hancock County in Week 11.
The ‘Lander defense set the tone early.
Auston Caraway jumped in front of an Eagle pass five plays into the game, and returned it for a pick-six to get Cloudland back on the board.
Cosby, however, answered to tie the game up at 6-6 after a quarter of play.
Caraway struck again early in the second with his second interception and pick-six as he regained the lead for Cloudland.
CHS saw the offense get going, and the ‘Landers scored 36 total points in the second quarter to take full control of the game.
Cloudland led 42-14 at the half.
The ‘Landers added a score in the third and a 70-yard touchdown from Kyle Birchfield in the fourth to account for the final.
Birchfield finished the game with four touchdowns on the night, while Bryce Birchfield had a 65-yard passing touchdown to Walker Gouge.
Grayson Cole ended the night with two scores.
