Monday Round-up: Lady Rangers, Lady Cyclones Take Wins; Cyclones, Bulldogs Come Up Short

Uncoi County 1, Elizabethton 0
The Cyclones were unable to answer an early run despite a hard-fought effort Monday night.

Unicoi took a 1-0 lead in the second, and Elizabethton was unable to answer in the league game.

Peyton Johnson recorded 11 strikeouts for the Cyclones and allowed just one unearned run on three hits.
Rhett Slagle, Kaleb Hambrick, and Jack Farris each recorded a hit for EHS.

Johnson County 12, Happy Valley 7
A big day for Reagan Ensor wasn’t enough to power the Warriors past Johnson County.

Ensor had a home run, two RBIs, and touched home plate three times to pace the Warriors, but HV was unable to edge back ahead of the Longhorns.

Cade Kendall finished with two hits.

North Greene 11, Unaka 0
The Rangers were unable to get anything going on Monday night.

After the Huskies plated a run in the bottom of the first, neither team was able to drive a run across until NG added two in the fourth.

Any thought of an Unaka rally was erased in the sixth when North Greene scored seven runs

Landon Lewis had two strikeouts on the mound.

Tyler Britton threw a no-hitter for North Greene.

University High 12, Hampton 0
The Bulldogs came up short on Monday.

Despite a hard-fought effort, Hampton was unable to answer an early run from the Bucs, and UH pushed the lead to 2-0 after the fifth.

Hampton looked poised to make a rally, but UH plated 10 runs in the top of the seventh to secure the win.

Brody Hicks had a hit for the Bulldogs, while also recording five strikeouts and one earned run on five hits in nearly five innings of work.

Softball
Elizabethton 6, Lauderdale County 5
The Lady Cyclones opened the Riverdale tournament in thrilling fashion on Monday.

Lela Byrd hit a walk-off single to plate Mollie Johnson to lift EHS to the win. The Lady Cyclones scored three runs in the final inning to rally for the win.

Maely Ingram, Kenidy Harris, Ember Jensen, and Johnson had two hits apiece, while Cheyenne Poiroux and Byrd each added a hit.

In the circle, Byrd picked up the win as she allowed just four earned runs on six hits with four strikeouts.

Elizabethton 13, Christian Liberty 1
In the second game of the day, the Lady Cyclones rolled past Christina Liberty.

After plating two runs in the top of the first, EHS added three more in the third and then left no doubt with eight runs in the fifth.

Emma O’Quinn and Harris had three hits a piece with Harris driving in three runs. Ingram, Johnson, and Poiroux each had two hits.

Johnson picked up the win as she struck out nine batters and allowed just one hit in nearly five innings of work.

Unaka 16, University High 1
The Lady Rangers rolled to a District 1-A win on Monday afternoon.

Lyndie Ramsey had four RBIs on two hits with three runs scored, while Kylie Blevins went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored.

Jill Faust added three hits to the Lady Ranger cause, while Alisha Harrell and Trinity Bowers tallied two hits each.
