Elizabethton 67, Mount Pisgah (AL) 40 (girls)
The Lady Cyclones used a third-quarter run to pull away and never look back en route for a non-conference win on Saturday.
After taking a 16-11 lead in the first eight minutes of the game, Elizabethton pushed the advantage to 27-19 at halftime with a balanced attack in the second quarter.
A 22-6 run to open the second half was all the Lady Cyclones needed as they hit cruise control the rest of the way.
Morgan Headrick led the way with 19 points. Kaylen Shell also reached double-digits with 17 points. Lina Lyon and Kelsie Winters had eight points apiece.
Happy Valley 45, Chuckey-Doak 40 (girls)
The Lady Warriors captured a thrilling road victory on Saturday night.
Happy Valley, who trailed 11-7 at the end of the first quarter as well as by two at the half, used a strong third quarter to take the lead. The teams traded shots in the closing minutes as the Lady Warriors were able to hold onto the win.
Gabby Wood had 12 points to pace the Lady Warriors, while Olivia Absher and Jaiden Clark had 10 points each. Emily Lunceford added eight points.
Chuckey-Doak 58, Happy Valley 54 (boys)
The Warriors came up short in a heartbreaker on Saturday night.
HV jumped out to an 11-8 lead in the first quarter and maintained a 24-22 advantage at the half. After the Warriors held a slim one-point advantage going to the fourth, HV was unable to answer a CD run that pushed the Knights into the lead.
Blake Young led HV with 19 points, while James Harmon had 14 points. Dylan Willis added 11 points to the Warrior cause.
