It is slated to be a busy Friday for three of our county teams.

Elizabethton baseball and softball are set to compete in substate action, while the Unaka softball team will look to claim the Region 1-A championship.

The Cyclones will look to take advantage of hosting a substate game as the road to Murfreesboro continue as they take on Gibbs at 7 p.m. That game will be held at ETSU’s Thomas Stadium due to inclement weather.

Gibbs dropped a 6-1 decision to Pigeon Forge in the Region 2-AA championship game.

For the Lady Cyclones, a trip to Gibbs is in the works. The Lady Eagles dispatched Kingston in the Region 2-AA title game to earn the right to host a substate game.

First pitch in Corryton is set for 6 p.m.

Unaka will look to mark another goal off their list in the Region 1-A Championship game as they take on North Greene. The teams hope the third time is the charm as rain has twice postponed the game.

First pitch at Unaka is set for 2 p.m. with the winner hosting Tellico Plains in a sectional match-up, while the loser will travel to Sale Creek.

The date and time of those substate games will be announced following the completion of the Region 1-A Championship.
