Thursday Round-up: Lady Bulldogs, Bulldogs Take Wins Over East; Cyclones, Lady Warriors Roll

Hampton 52, Sullivan East 39
The Lady Bulldogs started the year with a strong win on Thursday night and gave Head Coach Dewayne Humphrey his first win at the helm of the program.

Hampton jumped out to a 15-4 in the first quarter lead and then kept the Lady Patriots at bay for the win.

Taylor Berry led the Lady Bulldogs with 18 points, while Hannah Smith added nine points. Faye Carrico tossed in seven points.

Sophie Johnson led Sullivan East with nine points.

Happy Valley 48, Tri-Cities Christian 35
Marcida Moore scored 15 points, while Kayla Parker and Josephine Zeoli had 11 and 10 points, respectively, to lead HV to a Thursday night win.

After trailing 13-12 after a quarter of play, the Lady Warriors held Tri-Cities Christian to just three points in the second frame to take a 23-16 halftime lead.

From there, HV was able to secure the win.

Micheala Dixon led Tri-Cities Christian with 11 points.

Boys
Hampton 79, Sullivan East 74
The Bulldogs picked up a thrilling win to kick off the 2023-24 season as Michael Anspaugh had 23 points to lead the way.

It was a back-and-forth battle the entire way as Hampton led 15-14 after eight minutes of play and maintained a 38-29 halftime lead.

The Patriots were able to trim the Hampton lead in the third, but the Bulldogs were able to secure the win down the stretch.

Bryce Fagan had 16 points, while Hayden Campbell had 14 points. Tuff Robinson tossed in 11 points. In all eight Bulldogs reached the scorebook.

Drake Fisher led the Patriots with 29 points.

Unicoi County 78, Unaka 45
The Rangers were unable to keep pace with the Blue Devils on Thursday.

Mason Wilson and Marcus Shomaker had 13 points each for the Rangers. John Hardin added 11 points.

Jackson Simmons had 27 points for Unicoi.

Elizabethton 83, Seymour 69
The Cyclones rolled to a victory on Thursday night.

Andrew Barnett led the way with 20 points, while Hudson Pate, Jeriah Griffin, Will Churchhill, Nathan Bailey, and Jackson Buckles had eight points apiece.

Mac Paulson and Justius Wallin added six points each.
