Tuesday Round-up: Cloudland, Elizabethton record sweeps

Cloudland 62, UH 45
Preston Benfield tallied 26 points to lead Cloudland past University High on Tuesday night.

The ‘Landers maintained a slim lead throughout the first half, and outscored UH 20-12 in the third to make it a double-digit lead. From there, it was all Cloudland.

Brinkley Mull had 10 points for Cloudland, while Noah Arnett had nine points. Jason Potter and Josh Blair had six points apiece.


Elizabethton 68, Sullivan North 41
The Cyclones defense stole the show on Tuesday night.

EHS limited North to just eight first-half points to take control of the game from the onset. Elizabethton led 29-8 at the break.

Adam Cornett led Elizabethton with 12 points. Corey Russell, Alex Norwood, Jacob Norris and Hayden Townsend had eight points apiece, while Eric Wilson tossed in seven points for the Cyclones.

Elizabethton 61, Sullivan North 18 (Girls)
The Lady Cyclones shook off a sluggish start and rolled to a Three Rivers victory.

After leading 11-6 at the end of the first quarter, EHS outscored the Lady Raiders 17-6 in the second stanza to take a double-digit lead. Elizabethton continued rolling in the third by outscoring North 20-0.

Loran Campbell led the way with 12 points, while Haley Burleson and Kaylen Shell had 11 points apiece.

Cloudland 57, UH 27 (Girls)
A strong second quarter helped Cloudland seize control and they never looked back en route to a conference win at University High.

Cloudland held control early and hit the pedal in the second quarter to take a 29-12 lead into the locker room at the half. The Lady ‘Landers outscored the Lady Bucs 17-4 in the third quarter to leave no doubt.

Shian Strickland and Lisa Ellis led all scorers with 13 points. Stacia Wilson had 12 points. Trinity Vines and Johanna Johnson had nine and seven points, respectively.
