Happy Valley dropped a pair of Three River Conference games on Friday evening.
The Lady Warriors were edged 58-52 to Unicoi County on Warrior Hill, while the Warriors dropped a 63-48 decision to the Blue Devils.
In the girls’ game, Unicoi County jumped out to a 20-13 lead in the first quarter, and extended the margin to 36-24 at the.
HV, however, wouldn’t go quietly as the Lady Warriors methodically cut into the lead. Happy Valley came as close as three points in the final minutes of the game, but was unable to get back in front.
Shalyn Whitson had 22 points to lead the Lady Warriors, while Adrienne Henegar tallied 11 points.
In the varsity nightcap, Happy Valley saw Unicoi jump put to a 14-8 lead after eight minutes of play. The Blue Devils, despite a strong performance by Bryce Carter, extended the margin to 32-19 at the half.
The Warriors continued to battle in the second half, but was unable to dig into the UC Lead.
Noah Stevens and Carter led HV with 17 points apiece.
