Cyclones Unable To Seize Momentum In Season Opening Loss To Science Hill

Elizabethton was unable to turn the momentum back their way on Friday night.

The Cyclones saw Science Hill use a Kiantai Harris 80-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter to take a 14-6 lead, and the Hilltoppers pulled away to take a 34-20 victory over the Cyclones in Elizabethton.

After Science Hill opened the scoring with 2:44 left in the first as Mackey Keramidas caught a Pearson Harrison pass for a four-yard touchdown.

Peyton Lingerfelt put the Cyclones on the board with just over four minutes to play in the half with a 15-yard run. The extra point was blocked as EHS trailed 7-6.

On the next play from scrimmage, Harris broke free for the momentum-changing play as SH took a 14-6 lead into the half.

Elizabethton’s Legend Pate nabbed an interception in the third quarter, but the Cyclones were unable to capitalize on the turnover. Knox Necassary scored for Science Hill on a 48-yard run to give the Hilltoppers a 21-6 lead after three quarters of play.

Science Hill added a 19-yard touchdown to open the fourth.

Elizabethton continued to battle as Lingerfelt scored on a nine-yard touchdown run and a seven-yard touchdown run to account for the final EHS scoring. Lingerfelt had 87 yards on 14 carries to lead Elizabethton.
