Elizabethton has been familiar with walk off games the past week. However, they were on the wrong side of one Tuesday night.

The Cyclones dropped a 3-2 decision to Stewart County in the TSSAA Class AA State Tournament at Smyrna. With the loss, Elizabethton will face either Grundy County or Riverside in a 11 AM EDT/10 AM CDT elimination game.

After a two and a half hour delay, the teams were able to take the field, but neither team was able to get on the board in the first two innings before weather forced another delay.

Once the tarp was removed, Elizabethton got the bats started in the top of the third.
Evan Carter used a single to push Nick Johnson across the plate for the first run of the game. EHS pushed the advantage to 2-0 with two outs when Ethan Eggleston scored after Evan Perkins hit a pop up. Stewart County, however, got a run back in the visiting side of the frame.

Offense was hard to come by for either team as neither team got on the board until the bottom of the seventh.

After Stewart County tied the game up on an error, Peyton Milliken hit a single to take the walk off win.

Matthew Dailey, Logan Estep, Ryan Wetzel, Carter and Johnson each recorded a hit for EHS.

Evan Carter got the starting nod on the mound and was handed a no decision with six innings of work. Carter struck out 10 batters while allowed just one earned run on eight hits.
