Happy Valley was unable to nab a road Three Rivers win on Tuesday night.
The Warriors saw a late rally fall short in a 51-47 loss to the Cougars, while the Lady Warriors were unable to keep pace with Sullivan Central in the second half in a 47-30 decision.
In the boys’ game, it was a tight battle through the first quarter as the Cougars held a slim 8-7 advantage. Central was able to get a little breathing room in the second quarter by outscoring HV 16-7 in the frame.
After the teams played nearly even in the third stanza, Happy Valley begin to battle back. Noah Stevens and Bryce Carter held the Warriors nearly erase a 37-26 deficit over the final eight minutes. However, the Warriors were unable to continue the rally for the win in the closing minutes.
Stevens tallied 24 points, while Carter had 14 points to lead HV scorers.
In the girls’ game, neither team was able to get away from the other in the first half. The Lady Warriors trailed 12-11 at the end of the first quarter and 25-21 at the break.
The Lady Cougars, however, took control of the game in the second half. SC outscored the Lady Warriors 22-9 over the final 16 minutes for the win.
Shalyn Whitson led HV with 15 points. Adrienne Henegar and Emily Lunceford had four points apiece, while Autumn Henegar and Olivia Absher had three points. Casey Campbell rounded out the HV scoring with two points.
